WEBVTT HE WAS STRUCK AND KILLED BY AGARBAGE TRUCK.WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS THESORROW.LOVED ONES RECEIPT -- AS LOVEDONES RECEIVED THE NEWS.NOTHING COULD SAVE THE BOY AFTERTHE GARBAGE TRUCK HIT HIM.I KNOW THE GUY, HE PLAYEDBASKETBALL WITH MY KIDS, IT ISJUST SO TRAGIC.POLICE GOT THE CALL JUSTBEFORE 3:30.TWO BOYS WERE PLAYING OUTSIDE.NO ONE WITNESSED THE ACCIDENT,BUT PEOPLE CAME RUNNING.ONE BOY WAS ABLE TO ROLL OUT OFTHE WAY.HE YELLED AT THE DRIVER TO STOPCOME BY WAS TOO LATE.THE OTHER BOY WAS CAUGHT UNDERTHE REAR WHEEL.>> THAT COULD HAVE BEENANYBODY'S KID.>> THE DRIVER HAD TO BACK UP TOFREE THE BOY.>> THEY ARE ALWAYS OUTPLAYING INTHE STREET.I THINK THEY SHOULD BE ON THESIDEWALK.THE SIDEWALKS ARE NOT THEBEST SIDEWALKS.SOMETIMES, YOU'RE ARE FORCED TOPLAY ON THE STREETS.THEY SHOULD NOT HA BEEN ON THESTREET.IT IS JUST SAD.THE BOY WAS RUSHED TO THEHOSPITAL, BUT THERE WAS NOTHINGTHEY COULD DO.

An 8-year-old boy is dead after being hit by a garbage truck in Kansas City, MO.It happened around 3:25 p.m. in the 5400 block of E 100th Street.Witnesses says the child and a friend were pulling or playing with a wagon when they were hit. One was able to roll out of the way and yelled at the driver to stop. The second child was trapped under the back tires. They say the driver had to back the truck up to free the boy.Police confirm it wasn't until the boy started yelling that the truck driver realized anything had happened.Someone performed CPR and he was taken to the hospital but there was nothing they could do.It's devastating for the neighborhood."As a parent and as a nurse, it's like you gotta hold your composure and try to be strong for the family," said Mysetter Reynolds, who lives nearby. "I'm trying not to cry and I've got my two (children) standing right here. That could have been anybody's kid, it could have been mine, so it's like you have to be strong for the family at a time of need." Kansas City Police investigators are working to determine what happened.
