Tires fall off car in Holland Tunnel crash: police

JERSEY CITY -- A car driving through the Holland Tunnel lost two of its tires during an early morning crash, police said.

At about 3:10 a.m., the car was driving in the New York bound lanes when the tires "dislodged" in a "one vehicle accident," Port Authority spokesman Joe Pentangelo said.

Port Authority Tunnel and Bridge Agents arrived on the scene to remove the car and traffic was halted for about 20 minutes, he said.

The tunnel has since reopened without delays.

Last week, a bicyclist briefly disrupted traffic at the Lincoln Tunnel after his GPS sent him through the westbound lanes accidentally.
