SEATTLE, WA – Anyone scheduled to be on the road this October 11 might want to take some extra care. That date, along with June 7, tends to be the most dangerous time to be on the road if you’re a truck driver, Zonar Systems reports.

For the past three years, more truck accidents happened on those two days than any other days of the year, says the company. In the U.S. there were 397 collisions on those dates over a three-year span.

On October 11, the highest odds for a truck being in a fatal collision will occur between 7 and 10 pm, with 31% of tracked fatalities taking place at that time. “This is unusual compared to crash statistics for the rest of the year, when an average of only 1.3% of accidents occur at dusk,” the company says.

Problems with vehicle tires were the top cause of the collisions (43%), followed by brake issues (25%) and other vehicle faults (15%).

In the U.S., the most dangerous stretches of road on October 11 is Route 6, between the 0- and 3-mile markers, near the Nebraska/Colorado state line. That stretch accounted for 15.9% of the U.S. fatalities on that day.

Zonar provides verified vehicle inspection reporting, GPS tracking, and Electronic Logging Device technologies.
