AN incident of illegal dumping has been reported near Letterbreen, where a large quantity of lorry tyres was offloaded at a gate entrance on the Blunnick Road.

The discovery was made by a local woman who was out driving with her husband when they stumbled upon the pile of discarded tyres.

The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed her anger and frustration upon seeing the illegal dumping.

"I couldn't believe my eyes when we saw it. It’s just so thoughtless and irresponsible," she said. "Whoever did this clearly has no regard for our environment or our community. It’s disgraceful."

The tyres, which appeared to be from a lorry, were left in a visible location at the entrance to the bridge.

The woman pointed out that the location was not only an eyesore but also a potential safety hazard. "It’s not just the mess," she added.

"If someone were to drive down this road at night, they might not even see these tyres in time, and that could cause a serious accident."

The incident has raised concerns among locals, who are urging authorities to investigate and take action.

"This kind of thing shouldn't be happening, especially in such a beautiful area," the woman noted. "I really hope this gets the attention it deserves, and that whoever is responsible is held accountable."

Sinn Féin councillor Thomas O'Reilly, condemned the incident.

"This is reprehensible and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms," Councillor O'Reilly said.

"Fermanagh is a tourist area and when we see incidents of this nature, it doesn't send out a good message at all.

"I urge anyone with information on this incident to contact the authorities."

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council have been contacted about the incident.
