A top mechanic has issued an alert to all car owners over one common button. Scotty Kilmer, a popular mechanic, has issued a warning to road users and drivers over using the cruise control button.
Scotty said: "Today I'm going to show you whether you can trust your cruise control or not. This is a 15-year-old Toyota. The cruise control works but when you're driving downhill with the cruise control on it will often accelerate and go beyond the speed limits.
“This modern Sienna has adaptive cruise control, going downhill it might only change 1mph, they’re better systems. So if you don't know what your car has, do the test. When there is no one around go down a relatively steep incline. If it stays about the same great, If it keeps freewheeling then be cautious when you use your cruise control.”

"I only use cruise control when I need to go to the back seat and make another drink," a driver laughed in the comments. Another YouTuber said: "One of my fondest memories, is watching you with my father. He's passed on but I am always reminded of him by your videos."
"Got Adaptive Cruise Control on my latest car...it's a 2008 Honda Accord! It's like being in a space ship compared to my old XType!" another said. A fellow motorist said: "Good point Scotty, its no coincidence thats where they park the laser radar.
"I was driving the 2005 and 6 GMC 2500HDs for a long time and they held speed on the cruise control like a tack, drove a v8 ford sport trac close to the same build year and it was up pulling almost 9 over the set cruise after cresting a steep hill.
" 2016 Equinox was about half as much variance but still those old heavy GMs were the more accurate. If you suspect the speedometer is off (IE. swapped to your winter tires), open google maps on your phone while in the vehicle set a destination and compare what you see on the screen to your speedometer."
"A tow truck driver once told me that the occasional recovery in a ditch during a snowfall was someone used cruise control on the icy highway," another wrote.
