More than $30,000 will be up for grabs this weekend when the Schaeffer's Oil Spring Nationals Series presented by Coltman Farms Racing returns to action with a doubleheader in the Volunteer State. The weekend will be highlighted by the $21,000-to-win Lil' Bill Corum Memorial at Tazewell Speedway on Saturday, April 19. However, before the series arrives in Tazewell, they will make a stop at I-75 Raceway to race for a $10,053 check on Friday night, April 18.
With big money on the line, the doubleheader weekend will see some of the sport's most recognized names in action. As of Wednesday afternoon, two-time defending race winner Dale McDowell, Brandon Overton Mike Marlar, Tyler Erb, Cory Hedgecock, Ricky Weiss, Cameron Marlar and Mike Benedum are just a few of the drivers that the series has announced as expected entries for the weekend.
Jimmy Owens, who is no stranger to success in his home state of Tennessee, also has both of this weekend's Spring Nationals races listed as upcoming events on his website.
The top three drivers in the Spring Nationals point standings -- Cody Overton, Wil Herrington and Garrett Smith -- are also expected to be in action.
Trey Mills and Jensen Ford are among the drivers who have announced their plans to compete this weekend via their social media pages.
Along with the $21,000 winner’s purse for Saturday's Lil Bill Corum Memorial, Super Late Model competitors will also be gunning to lead lap 28 of the 75-lap feature, as Kelly Camp, of Knoxville, Tennessee, has put up a $1,000 bonus in memory of Jeff Wolfenbarger. Pre-entered drivers will also be vying for an extra $1,050 Fast Time Award and an extra $1,050 for winning the Toyota Knoxville Quick Six Dash, which will set the lineup for the first three rows of the main event.
