Apollo Tyres has launched the Vredestein Superpasso Pro, the first model in the new range of high-performance, competition-ready road bike tires. The tire is said to deliver significant advances in performance, durability and functionality in comparison with its predecessor.
The Apollo Vredestein tire is offered in three sizes: 700x25C, 700x28C and 700x32C, with tubeless-ready (TLR) and tube-type options. Developed by Apollo Tyres’ European R&D team, the Superpasso Pro features the company’s innovative TriComp technology with different rubber compounds for the tread and sidewall to optimize rolling resistance, puncture protection and grip in both wet and dry conditions. The center of the tread incorporates a harder compound for lower rolling resistance and to resist penetration, while the tire’s shoulder is made of a softer compound to enhance cornering grip at all speeds.
The new active control technology introduces a tire design for TLR tires, replacing the traditional overlapping center joint with a bridged gap. This advance makes the tire lighter and faster, delivering enhanced control, improved feedback and uncompromised comfort. The Vredestein tire also features a strengthened breaker layer to help maximize puncture resistance, providing users with the confidence to stay on the road for longer.
Compared with its Vredestein predecessor, the new Superpasso Pro achieves a 14% improvement in rolling resistance, a 23% increase in puncture resistance and an 8% reduction in weight. The manufacturer says that these performance upgrades make the Superpasso Pro an ideal choice not only for professional road racing but also for cycling enthusiasts looking for a blend of high performance and comfort.
The Superpasso Pro has been rigorously tested by Beat cycling club, a professional cycling team in the Netherlands, as part of a commercial partnership. The team has provided valuable feedback on the tire’s performance in competitive environments and training conditions, ensuring it meets the high standards of professional cyclists.
“The Superpasso Pro represents a significant leap forward in tire technology, offering cyclists a product that excels in both performance and durability,” said Nic Knippers, division head for Vredestein two-wheel tires at Apollo. “With its innovative design and advanced materials, it delivers unmatched speed, comfort and reliability for cyclists of all levels.”
“As a team that consistently pushes the limits of performance, we’ve been thoroughly impressed by the Superpasso Pro,” said Thijs Zonneveld, sportive director at Beat Cycling Club. “The advancements in rolling efficiency, grip and durability have been evident in both race-day conditions and intense training sessions, and we’re excited to continue using it in competition.”
