FOREST RANCH, Calif. - The California Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash on Highway 32 involving a woman from Forest Ranch on Saturday morning.
According to the CHP, the 26-year-old woman was driving a 2013 Toyota Corolla westbound when she came to a curve in the roadway east of Woodland Park Drive.
Tire friction marks on the roadway at the accident scene suggest that the driver lost control of her vehicle.
Authorities say that the woman's car veered off the north road edge, continuing down an embankment before crashing into a tree.
Emergency crews arrived at the accident scene shortly after the crash occurred and found the female driver unresponsive inside of the vehicle, despite wearing a seat belt.
Efforts by first responders to revive the woman were unsuccessful, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say that drugs and alcohol do not appear to be involved as factors in the crash.
The cause and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
