Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell (ENMU-R) is offering a trio of automotive training programs to the public in June free of charge.
“The three automotive programs we are offering are three ideas that came from speaking with several of our community partners,” said Martha Staab, marketing and public relations director for ENMU-R.
“Small Gas Engines” will be June 5 and 6 at the Automotive Technology Center (AWTC) and is intended to help attendees expand their knowledge of small gas engine maintenance. Topics covered will include two-stroke and four-stroke engines and the importance of fluids and fuel systems, according to a flyer from ENMU-R.
“Our small gas engines training is geared toward teaching people how to fix small lawn engines and various equipment and also includes entrepreneurial training,” Staab said.
“Women in Automotive” is a hands-on workshop for women in the community who want to gain knowledge on automotive maintenance, according to the flyer. Topics covered will include tool identification, spark plugs, tire rotations and fluid changes. The workshops will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., June 7 and 8, in AWTC Room 107.
“Women in Automotive Training is a fantastic class for women of our community to gain hands-on knowledge about various vehicle components and essential maintenance skills in a supportive, inclusive, and empowering environment,” Staab said.
“Torque Applications and Procedures” will be from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in AWTC Room AT115, Lab AT107 and Instructional Technology Center Computer Lab 107. A lunch break will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
“These are great opportunities for anyone to come out and try one of these trainings and have fun in the process,” Staab said. “We are thankful that this all came together so quickly to be able to offer these to the community.”
