The Vietnamese electric carmaker — Vinfast — is set to make its India debut as it gears up to launch its first EV in India later this year. A prototype of the upcoming VF7 has now been spotted in India. The latest spy shot, courtesy Autocar India, shows an uncamouflaged unit of the VF7 clad in black shade.

The Vinfast VF7 made its first public appearance at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year. The SUV is expected to be officially launched around the festive season, around October this year.

Vinfast VF7 details spotted: Design & Features

The image shows a unit of VF7 reportedly clicked on the streets of Mumbai at the back of trailer bed. The electric SUV recently imported into the country is likely the India-spec VF7. It features a Jet Black exterior and comes equipped with 19-inch gloss black alloy wheels wrapped in 245/50 R19 Apollo Aspire tyres. This setup differs from the version displayed at the Expo earlier this year, which sported 20-inch wheels with Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres.

The use of smaller wheels on the India-spec model is a practical choice, as many international carmakers adopt a similar approach for the Indian market to enhance ride quality. The VinFast website also lists other colour options for the VF7 including Brahminy White, Crimson Red and Neptune Grey.

The spy shot also confirms a few more details about its expected features. An ADAS sensor can be seen on the front bumper along with a camera on the ORVM which suggests the inclusion of blind spot monitor and 360-degree camera.

There are two variants of VF7 offered internationally: Eco and Plus — both variants equipped with a 75.3kWh battery pack. The VF7 Eco is powered by a single motor on the front axle, producing 204hp and 310Nm of torque. In contrast, the VF7 Plus features a dual-motor setup that delivers a combined output of 354hp and 500Nm. According to VinFast, the Eco variant offers a WLTP range of 450km, while the Plus variant provides a range of 431km.
