With 1.2 billion young people in emerging economies reaching working age over the next decade—and only about 420 million jobs expected to be generated—the urgency of finding scalable and sustainable solutions has never been greater.

The World Bank Group Spring Meetings flagship event, Jobs—The Path to Prosperity, convened global leaders, policymakers, and youth advocates to address a key challenge: creating sufficient quality jobs for the young people entering the workforce over the next decade. Speakers shared personal experiences and called for scalable, inclusive solutions that drive job creation, support strong economies, and tackle the roots of conflict and fragility.

Participants included entrepreneurs and youth advocates, a panel of experts discussing the World Bank’s three-pillar approach—investing in human capital and infrastructure, creating predictable regulatory environments, and mobilizing private capital—and a closing dialogue between young people and global leaders Ajay Banga, Michelle Bachelet, and Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

Together, they explored economic inclusion, technological disruption, and the sectors with the greatest potential to create jobs and unlock prosperity.
