MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) - An Ohio police chase that involved a suspect throwing wooden boards from a truck bed at troopers ended when the car drove across the median, causing a large crash.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers attempted to pull over a truck without visible registration or plates on Thursday but the driver sped away down the highway, prompting a pursuit.
Troopers reportedly attempted to use "stop sticks" to pop the escaping vehicle's tires, but the deflated tires didn't stop the chase. As seen in a recording from a police helicopter, another suspect stood in the truck bed of the speeding car and threw wooden planks at the approaching officers.
The chase ended when the truck crossed the median into oncoming traffic, colliding with another vehicle and causing a six-vehicle crash. Police said that four people jumped out of the truck and attempted to flee, but they were all caught and arrested. The suspects were reportedly not charged, but could face charges of drug possession and aggravated vehicular assault.
The drivers and passengers involved in the multi-car crash were treated for non-life-threatening injuries as necessary.
