HARTINGTON, Neb. — A two-day northeast Nebraska scrap tire collection event has been scheduled for this week for residents of Cedar, Dixon, Knox and Pierce counties.
Cedar County has received $165,396 from the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy’s Waste Reduction & Recycling Incentive Fund to host a 2025 site for the collection of 1,000 tons of scrap tires.
The Hartington Recycling Center, located at 56550 Hwy. 84 east of Hartington, Nebraska, is slated to be open from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday to collect scrap tires, which will be gathered until the maximum of 1,000 tons has been reached.
Another northeast Nebraska scrap tire collection event has been scheduled for July 8 for residents of Antelope, Cedar, Knox, Madison and Pierce counties.
Pierce County has received $23,114 from the state Department of Environment and Energy’s Waste Reduction & Recycling Incentive Fund to host a site this year for the collection of 150 tons of scrap tires at the Pierce County District 3 Shop, located at 54917 854th Road northwest of Pierce, Nebraska.
The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy announced in January that nearly $9.8 million in grants were awarded to support 136 projects across the state this year. These grants will help fund waste and litter reduction projects and recycling programs, and pay costs for scrap tire cleanups and collections for household hazardous waste, electronic waste and pharmaceuticals.
