This year, FIA has introduced a new set of softer tire compounds for the 2025 Canadian GP. However, in the qualifying session, teams had better results on medium tires. Starting Grid for 2025 Canadian GP

The qualifying session for the 2025 Canadian GP saw George Russell clinch pole position by beating Max Verstappen by one-tenth of a second. McLaren, who had the dominant car, struggled with grip on the track. Oscar Piastri still managed to get a second-row start at P3, but Lando Norris slipped to P7 after making too many mistakes on his last lap.

Interestingly, Isack Hadjar has qualified P9, but he will start the race from P12 due to a three-place grid penalty imposed on him by the FIA for impeding Carlos Sainz during the qualifying session.
On the other hand, Yuki Tsunoda qualified P11 on Saturday but has been dropped to P19 after getting a 10-place grid penalty for overtaking under a red flag during the FP3 session on day two of the 2025 Canadian GP.
