ST. CLOUD — Stearns County residents, farmers, businesses and jurisdictions can apply for grants to help dispose of unwanted tires.

Applicants may be reimbursed for up to $2,5000 in tire disposal costs, according to a Stearns County news release. The grants are funded by the Minnesota’s S.C.O.R.E. (Select Committee on Recycling and the Environment) program, which supports cleaner communities by promoting responsible tire recycling.

To be eligible, according to the release, individuals must submit:

  • A completed application.
  • A completed W-9 form.
  • A disposal plan that shows that the applicant has been pre-approved for at least 25% of the funding.

Approved applicants are required to dispose of tires at licensed recycling facilities and submit valid receipts for reimbursement, the news release said.
