Man injured after pickup truck hit by train in Lafayette County, Missouri
A 57-year-old Independence man was injured early Sunday morning when his pickup truck was struck by a train in Lafayette County.The Missouri Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 1:05 a.m. on Missouri Route 224 at Maple Lane. The highway patrol said the man was driving a Chevrolet Silverado southbound when he attempted to cross railroad tracks at a location that was not a designated crossing. The truck became stuck in the mud and was unable to move before an eastbound Union Pacific train struck the vehicle.No injuries were reported to the train operator.
