Mob Justice Turns Deadly in Mzuzu: Two Killed, House Burned

Tension and violence gripped the Geisha area of Mzuzu yesterday as an enraged mob took the law into its own hands, resulting in the deaths of two men suspected of theft and murder.

Eyewitnesses say the mob, fueled by growing anger over recent criminal activities in the area, descended on the suspected individuals, killing them on the spot. In a further act of retribution, the crowd torched a house believed to belong to the suspects. The structure was completely destroyed, including all property inside.

At the time of reporting, the mob had begun moving toward Sauzberry Line, another neighborhood in the city, reportedly in search of another individual believed to be connected to the same crimes.

Police have yet to release an official statement, and the situation remains tense.

Authorities are being urged to intervene to restore order and prevent further violence.
