Lamar Redevelopment Authority Board approves structural rehab and façade grant applications

During the meeting of July 14, 2025, the Lamar Redevelopment Authority Board voted unanimously to approve both a structural rehab grant application as well as a façade grant application for Apex Performance, LLC.  Apex Performance, LLC is owned by Hector and Lizette Alvarado and Aaron Vega.

Both grants concern the building located at 420 North Main St. in Lamar which was recently purchased by Apex.  The project involves renovations to the interior of the building, including removing select interior walls to expand the fitness studio, installing new drywall, remodeling an existing bathroom for ADA compliance, constructing a new hallway and dedicated storage room, repainting interior surfaces, installing new lighting and replacing the HVAC system.  The owners are doing the work themselves, so the cost estimates presented for the grants include only the materials.  The renovations are aimed at improving functionality, aesthetics, and overall user experience.  Renovations to the exterior of the building include painting the façade, installing decorative wood slat walls, staining the existing brick, repairing damaged concrete surfaces, and replacing exterior doors.
