Balaclava-clad gang hits three Westville homes in 45 minutes

A balaclava-clad gang struck three houses in a close knit community in Westville within 45 minutes this afternoon.

Blue Security community and media liaison officer Andreas Mathios said the armed robbers, who were driving a silver Range Rover (ND 644332) are believed to have hit all three houses, targeting the first property at around 1.30pm.

“The balaclava-clad gang targeted a house in Dunkeld Road, in Winchester Drive and in Kirriemuir Road where they held up the domestic worker and resident. They gained entry onto the premises and forced open the garage door when the resident attempted to close it. They threatened to kill her if she did not comply, and then proceeded to tie her up with a piece of cloth and forced open the front door of the house where they ransacked the bedrooms,” Mathios said. “The domestic worker managed to run out of the property and alert the neighbours.”

“The gang dismounted a television and left it behind and fled with cash and a cellphone,” he said. Mathios said it was unclear what else was stolen during the robberies at this stage.

Westville SAPS attended the scene of the crime.
