A 44-year-old Klawock man has been charged with manslaughter after a woman died on northern Prince of Wales Island Tuesday.

Alaska state troopers responded around 7 p.m. Tuesday July 3rd to a spot near mile 75 of the North Boundary Road north of Naukiti on northern Prince of Wales Island for a report of a woman who had been struck by a vehicle.

Troopers say George Huffine of Klawock was driving a Toyota pickup south on Boundary Road with his 26-year old girlfriend Trinity Kreiner. Troopers say Huffine told them the couple was having an argument when Kreiner leapt from the vehicle and was run over by the rear tires of the truck. She was pronounced dead while being transported to the clinic in Klawock.

Huffine is facing one charge of driving under the influence of alcohol and one charge of manslaughter. His first court appearance was July 4th and he had another hearing scheduled for Friday July 6th in Klawock.

Troopers are also asking for anyone who witnessed a blue 2005 Toyota Tundra driving north of Naukiti near Red Bay or El Capitan to call them at 907-826-2918.
