The south American football confederation and Bridgestone to kick-off 2014 copa Bridgestone libertadores

Asunción, Paraguay (Dec. 12, 2013) – The South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) and Bridgestone Latin America Tire Division (BATO LA) held the tournament draw ceremony today for the 2014 Copa Bridgestone Libertadores at the Convention Center of the South American Football Confederation in the city of Luque in Asuncion, Paraguay, kicking off soccer's greatest tournament in Latin America.                                                                                  The 2014 Copa Bridgestone Libertadores marks the 55th edition of the South America's premier international soccer club tournament organized by CONMEBOL. The tournament will run with the participation of teams from eleven countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.

 “To CONMEBOL, it is a matter of satisfaction to have the contribution of Bridgestone as a first line sponsor in our beloved Copa Libertadores,” said Eugenio Figueredo, President of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL). “We are aware of the fact that the development of soccer in South America has a close link with our sponsors, who rely on a product of superior quality.”

Through its title sponsorship agreement in the Copa Bridgestone Libertadores, Bridgestone is reinforcing its commitment to sports and renowned events at an international level, which unite fans from different countries, no matter distance or language.

Bridgestone has developed a variety of commercial and promotional activities in the region, bringing the excitement of soccer to fans and motorists. Bridgestone Latin America is organizing local amateur tournaments and competitions based on game forecasts, and also promoting talent among fans through its “BS Reporter contest. In addition, leveraging the digitally engaged fan, Bridgestone has developed dynamic activities in social networks, providing opportunities to receive free tickets for games, including the final match. During 2014, Bridgestone will continue with different contests and activities to celebrate its passion for soccer in all participating countries.
