Bridgestone Holds Eighth Annual Bridgestone Group Global TQM Conference

Tokyo (October 3, 2017)-Bridgestone Corporation held its eighth annual Bridgestone Group Global Total Quality Management (TQM) Conference on September 21, in Bangkok, Thailand.

The conference, which started in 2010, aims to strengthen TQM activities and enhance quality awareness of all Bridgestone teammates through sharing examples of best practices from each region and business unit with entire Group. The theme of the conference was “Creating Customer Value & Trust,” which is the mission of the Quality Mission Statement, a component of the Bridgestone Essence framework.

More than 250 Bridgestone employees from around the world, including Japan, United States, Costa Rica, Brazil, Belgium, Italy, France, Indonesia, Australia, China and Taiwan attended this year’s conference. A total of 15 improvement activities chosen from the entire group and two reference cases from departments that newly participated were presented. Two previous Grand Prize winning cases were also presented. Four TQM Awards and three Impression Awards were given out to teammates whose improvement activities were deemed to be outstanding and two out of four TQM Awards earned the Grand Prize.

In 1968, Bridgestone received the Deming Application Prize, an eminent quality award, and 2018 will mark the 50th anniversary of that achievement. Records and materials related to the Deming Prize as an origin of Bridgestone's TQM activities were displayed at this conference
